About Us
Vizazi is a social news, networking and social change resource for progressive African Americans. Similar to other sites you may have visited, such as Digg and Propeller, Vizazi has been established to provide a continuous, “at-a-glance” overview of breaking news which impacts upon the African American community. To achieve this goal, Vizazi is updated 365 days per year, gathering international news content from a variety of sources.
Vizazi was created with the belief that social news content can evolve into a potent tool capable of achieving meaningful change in our world. Vizazi seeks to evolve into an electronic forum enabling African Americans and other people of color to organize and mobilize around issues of mutual concern. Vizazi is a Swahili word meaning “birth.” We are hopeful that the information provided by Vizazi will give “birth” to meaningful discourse, which in turn, will give rise to social action. In the weeks to come, we will be adding a social action and networking module to facilitate communication among Vizazi users. Until that time, we encourage readers to use Vizazi’s “Chat” feature as a forum for networking and organizing around social justice issues impacting upon the African American community.
For those of you who might be unfamiliar with social news technology, articles posted on Vizazi can be accessed in two simple clicks. In the “Published News” or “Upcoming News” sections of Vizazi’s homepage, just click on the “read more” link following each article summary. That action will take you to a separate page where the featured article appears all alone. A click on the underscored “headline” will then transport you to the featured article. We hope to streamline this process as our technology is upgraded. Also, the number contained in the box to the extreme left of each article indicates votes from users who felt that these stories had value to themselves or others. Each article also allows users to post specific comments about content they feel strongly about.
We look forward to building a large, active community of users. It would mean a great deal to us if you would take a moment to register on our site. Once you become an official member of the Vizazi community, you’ll be able to post articles, other editorial content and comments that you feel are relevant or have value to the African American community. That content doesn’t necessarily have to contain the words “African American” or “Black Americans,” just represent items that you feel will improve other users’ quality-of-life.
We invite you to visit our site frequently and even make Vizazi.com your personal homepage if you’re so inclined. We’d also appreciate it greatly if you “spread the word” about our site, either by telling your friends and families about Vizazi.com, or by e-mailing articles or blogs that you feel are interesting.
If you would like to contact us directly with questions or comments regarding Vizazi, the address for our general electronic mailbox is vizazi2007@gmail.com.
We hope you enjoy and benefit from this site. Until next time, be good to yourselves and each other.
Peace,
The Vizazi Production Team
